The Darwin Suite, with its excellent piano, first class PA and comfortable informality is widely recognised as one of the UK's top mainstream jazz venues. Derby Jazz stages a gig here about once a month.

The Guildhall Theatre is across the market square from the Assembly Rooms main building. This intimate theatre venue is ideal for vocal, small group and acoustic music.

The Great Hall could easily become a major jazz venue. Its great sightlines, pianos, sound and flexible staging facilities offer a major opportunity to stage events such as our Derby Jazz Week Big Band concerts.

These city centre venues are easily accessibly by public transport and there is a car park in the complex. It has a full box office with credit card services, online booking and excellent facilities for people with disabilities.

It used to be Derby Playhouse, but has now re-opened under its new name of Derby Theatre under the joint management of Derby LIVE and the University of Derby. The studio is an intimate space underneath the main theatre. If coming by car, use the Westfield Centre underground car park, from where you can go directly into the studio.

An arts centre dedicated to dance, Deda houses two of our regular venues.

The CUBE café | bar is perfect for more informal music. Food and drink is available before and during the performance. Concerts at this venue often sell out, so advance booking is strongly recommended.

The Studio Theatre: A clean natural sound and excellent sightlines make it an ideal venue for  acoustic jazz.


Chapel Street car park is directly opposite this venue. Public transport close by.

The University's new Faculty of Arts, Design and Technology building on Markeaton Street includes a small concert hall with an excellent piano.  The campus has its own car park which is reached via Pybus Street off the A52 Ashbourne Road.
