THE AUDIENCE FOR JAZZ IN THE
EAST MIDLANDS
During January and February
2009 Derby Jazz participated in the most detailed investigation of the audience
for live jazz ever undertaken in the UK.
The research by Heather Maitland
was commissioned by East Midlands Jazz CIC (EMJAZZ) and focused on audiences at
23 live jazz events in January and February 2009 at 14 venues. Artists
appearing at these events ranged from Trudy Kerr to Dog Soup via Darius Brubeck
and venues included bars and restaurants as well as arts centres, theatres and
concert halls in Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham and Wellingborough.
